Umai Crate - Hiyashi Tanuki Soba

All right, my first packet from Umai Crate.  Also, I realize that this is soba and not ramen but it's my blog so I make the rules.  This was described as a cold noodle dish to beat the summer heat.  The packaging had a clever flap as part of the box that allowed you to cook the noodles with boiling water, drain it, then fill the box with cold water and drain it again.  The description said there were hints of bonito (tuna) and kombu (kelp) flavors in the seasoning packet plus tempura battered bits along with some heat with the included shimchi chili peppers.

This meal took 3 min to make.  The guide recommended I add green onions, nori (seaweed) and shaved daikon.  I didn't have any daikon radish (nor do I ever) but I dutifully added the other toppings.  This was actually quite good.  It had a really nice flavor and the addition of the green onions gave it a really nice crunch.  I was pleased with this one.

Here is the packaging.

The included packets.  The first is crunchy tempura things along with a packet of shimchi peppers, which give a nice heat.  The other packet is the sauce.

The final product with green onions and seaweed added.
