Waraku - Tonkotsu Ramen (and Spicy Tan-Tan)
My wife and I had to drive into San Francisco to get a special sonogram (back in 2017) so we had some time to kill. What better way than to try out a new ramen spot near Japantown. We tried Waraku, which seemed filled with some office workers on their lunch hour, but we didn't have to wait for a table.
I ordered the tonkotsu (pork) ramen while my wife had the spicy tan tan noodles. Both broths were very good, although I think I liked her broth a little more than mine. The spice level was good, not too hot and not too wimpy. The tonkotsu bowl came with pork belly, a marinated egg, shredded mushrooms, and topped with green onions. The spicy tan tan noodle bowl came with ground pork topped by a sprig of something green.
All in all, a good way to spend some time waiting for an appointment.
